Maxxis Championship Round 1 - LyngFriday,15 Apr 2016
Following months of planning and preparation by all, the Official Husqvarna riders and teams headed to the natural flowing sand circuit of Cadders Hill, Lyng near Norwich for the opening round of the 2016 Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship supported by Pro Clean. Over the winter the format for the championship had been revised with riders now competing in two longer motos. As always the opening round of any championship comes with extra excitement as everyone looks to start the season on the front foot and make early progress in a long season. Cadders Hill provided a perfect backdrop for the season opener with a large crowd lining the fence line around the circuit. In the MX2 class, Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing team members Max Anstie and Conrad Mewse both made Wildcard appearances as they looked to continue their preparation for the World and European Championship events. The Factory pairing lined up alongside Husqvarna UK teams, Apico Husqvarna, Hitachi Construction Machinery Revo Tru7.com Husqvarna and MVR-D Fuel 10K Husqvarna and a host of other Husqvarna riders in both classes. Top Husqvarna finisher Tanel Leok in third overall commented afterwards “with the limited time on the bike before Lyng, I feel happy to come away with third overall. With some more time to test and refine the bike I hope that I can get closer to Tommy and Shaun and be in the mix for race wins at Canada Heights” Also supporting the Maxxis British Championship was the MXY2 class which was dominated by Scottish rider Alexander Brown who claimed both race wins on his Apico Husqvarna.
