Lings Team Takes on Legendary Weston Beach RaceWednesday,28 Sep 2016
A team of Lings-backed riders will be looking to take on the most notorious and challenging spectacles in motocross as they compete in the 2016 HydroGarden Weston Super Mare Beach Race in front of a crowd of hundreds of thousands.
The Weston beach Race is spoken about in reverential tones amongst motorcycle enthusiasts as the most gruelling, demanding event on the UK calendar - but that just adds to the attraction to the Lings Team! Comprised of riders of varying experience and age, the Lings Team includes young hobbyists, a mix of up-and-coming enthusiasts, Lings staff members..and one undisputed Weston Legend.
To successfully negotiate the beach track, widely agreed upon to be the toughest MX/Enduro in the world, it is essential to have absolute confidence in the reliability and 'rideability' of your bike - and that's why the Lings team choose Husqvarna and Honda. With an unparalleled reputation in their class, Husqvarna and Honda are the undisputed kings of the MX & Enduro scene, with exceptional handling and perfectly-engineered engines designed to eat up the dirt, even on the toughest of tracks.
Taking part in the adult race, a 3-hour test of skill of endurance, will be Lings Ipswich Senior Motorcycle Technician and Eastern Centre Expert Rider Ben Alexander and fellow Eastern Centre Expert Keiran Snowling, riding a Lings Husqvarna FC350 and Lings Husqvarna FC250 respectively. This will be Bens third Weston Beach Race and he is hoping his part experience shows, particularly after finishing an impressive 98th out of 504 finishers last season. 16 year-old Harvey Thomas, fresh from his Norfolk & Suffolk Schoolboy MX Championship victory, will be racing his Championship-winning Lings Honda CRF250R in what will be his second attempt at the Adult Beach Race - Harvey will in for an exhausting weekend as he will also be participating in the Schoolboy Race!
Rounding off the Adult category riders is none other than multiple Weston Beach Race Solo Winner Rob Meek. A genuine legend in the field, Rob will be riding his Lings Husqvarna FC350 as he looks to add to his tally of Weston Beach Race wins.
The MX/Enduro bug bites across generations too, with Lings Team also fielding rider in the 14-17 year old Schoolboy Race. Teens Edward Jary (Lings Husqvarna FC250), Max Bickers (Lings Husqvarna TC125), Harvey Thomas (Lings Honda CRF250R) and Jack Youngs (Lings Honda CRF250R) will be racing on Saturday 8th October. Experience varies among the lads, with some riding the Weston for the first time while others have already experienced the thrills and spills and returned for more!
Later on the Saturday the Youth 85 Big Wheel race begins, and there are high hopes for Sam Nunn and his Lings Husqvarna TC85. For all his youth Sam already has outstanding MX pedigree as a Youth National Rider, finishing 3rd in the years MX Nationals. Sam will also be bringing his Weston experience to bear, having won the 2014 Youth 85 and finishing 2nd in 2015.
